Heartbreaking Images From Inside Isaac “Ike” Oar’s Home Have Left Everyone Who Sees Them Deeply Disturbed
Shocking footage of the home where a non-verbal man with Down syndrome was allegedly murdered has been released by police.
Vision shows the home cluttered with piles of unemptied bags and boxes of clothes, groceries and household items.
Isaac “Ike” Oar, 56, was allegedly found severely unnourished and weighed 29kg at the time of his death.
He was found unresponsive in his home on Alice St in Ayr, in Far North Queensland, on August 10, 2023.
Police at the time treated his death as suspicious.
His elderly half-sister Maria Concepceion Arrieta has now been charged with his murder.

“Investigations into the death of Isaac, who has Down syndrome and was non-verbal, have been complex, with detectives conducting extensive and thorough inquiries into his health, care and treatment throughout his life,” a police statement read at the time.
Detectives said the man was “experiencing serious malnourishment weighing just 29kg at the time of his death”.

At the time of the man’s death, Detective Inspector Jason Shepherd said the 56-year-old hadn’t received professional medical attention in more than a decade.
“He was only 29kg – that doesn’t happen overnight,” he said.
“There has (allegedly) obviously been years of neglect in some format.”
On Tuesday, Ms Arreita, a 70-year-old Forest Lake woman believed to be the man’s half-sister, was arrested and charged with one count of murder (domestic violence).
She appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The matter was adjourned to the Townsville Magistrates Court on Friday.
