A woman has been charged with murdering a young child at a home in Queensland.

Police were called to the home in Lowood, west of Brisbane, shortly before 11.10pm on Monday.

The four-year-old girl was found unresponsive inside the home.

Despite efforts from paramedics, the young girl was declared dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, police confirmed a 31-year-old woman had been arrested in relation to the death of a four-year-old girl.

She has since been charged with one count of murder domestic violence against a child.

Two other children inside the home at the time were not injured, police said.

The woman is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.

Police are urging anyone who may have relevant information to come forward.

A crime scene has been declared and investigations into the circumstances of the child’s death are continuing.
