Head-on collision by a drunk driver: Couple miraculously survives, but the aftermath is devastating
A short clip from a dashcam has become concrete evidence of the dangers posed by drunk driving. The incident, which occurred in northern Adelaide over the weekend, has left the public outraged by a reckless act that nearly resulted in tragedy.
A terrifying moment on Whites Road At 6:44 PM on Sunday, while driving along Whites Road in Paralowie, Mr. Abissantun Priyambodo unexpectedly became the victim of a head-on collision. According to the recorded footage, a Honda station wagon suddenly veered off course, barreling straight into Mr. Priyambodo’s lane. The impact was extremely forceful, leaving both vehicles severely damaged at the scene.
Miraculously escaping a “brush with death” Despite the extent of the wreckage after the collision, Mr. Priyambodo and his wife miraculously escaped. Following the incident, Mr. Priyambodo recounted the event: “While driving in our lane, another vehicle travelling in the opposite direction crossed into our lane and collided head-on with our vehicle.” He also shared details regarding the condition of his Mitsubishi Lancer: “The impact caused significant damage to the front of our car and it had to be towed from the scene.”
Although they were fortunate to save their lives, the couple could not avoid the physical aftereffects of the crash. Mr. Priyambodo stated: “We were fortunate not to suffer any serious injuries, although both of us experienced soreness and attended a GP the following day as a precaution.” Reflecting on the event, he expressed his gratitude: “We are grateful that both of us were able to walk away safely from what could have been a much more serious incident.”
Strict legal consequences The driver of the Honda, a 56-year-old male resident of Paralowie, was alleged by police to have had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.130 during on-site testing. According to a spokesperson for South Australia Police, this driver has been officially issued an immediate six-month license suspension.
This incident serves as a stern warning regarding the responsibility of road users concerning alcohol consumption, as a single wrong decision can take someone else’s life at any moment.
