Prince Harry’s request to reinstate his taxpayer-funded security is currently being reviewed after a direct request from him to the UK Home Secretary. The 41-year-old had his right to police protection removed in 2020 following his departure from the Royal Family and relocation to the US.

Harry has previously stated that he feels it is “unsafe” for his family to visit the UK, with Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet all having not visited his home country since 2022. According to royal author Robert Jobson, Harry’s children, now aged six and four, should be given the opportunity to see their royal relatives – especially theit paternal grandfather, King Charles.

He wrote: “As King Charles cannot be seen to interfere with an independent security committee, no matter his personal wishes that remain unknown. As a result, he cannot build a relationship with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

In 2023, Harry published a written witness statement to the High Court, saying: ”The UK is my home. It is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live in the US. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way.”
