Meghan Markle was mocked for relying on her husband, Prince Harry’s “birth right” to make her global brand successful, after their latest project was announced. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be executive producers for a “polo-themed” drama series on Netflix.

It will reportedly be set in the “high-flying equestrian town” of Wellington, Florida. Harry and Meghan’s new project announcement comes two years after Prince Harry’s Polo doc dropped on Netflix, which flopped in rankings.

Now, a royal commentator has weighed in on whether the new drama will be a hit with the viewers.

Lee Cohen, a US-based columnist/royal and foreign policy commentator, branded Netflix a “glutton for punishment” and claimed the streamer has learned “remarkably little” from Harry and Meghan’s “underwhelming output”.

He told the Daily Expresss: “​By now the Sussex Hollywood formula is painfully familiar: maximal hype, minimal results.

“Even by industry standards, the criticism has been notably blunt.

Mr Cohen added: “In my view, Netflix keeps rolling the dice on a couple whose global profile seems to rest almost entirely on Prince Harry’s birthright rather than on any consistent record of professional success.”

The new drama will be co-produced by Archewell Productions and Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire, as per Deadline.

It will be written by Teacup’s Francisca X. Hu, who will also serve as an exec-producer alongside the Sussex couple and and head of scripted content Tracy Ryerson, and Fake Empire’s Schwartz and Savage.
