Ex‑Prince Andrew’s long‑running standoff over Royal Lodge is coming to its end, and sources report the outcome could leave him depending on financial allowance from King Charles. As Andrew prepares to move out of the Windsor property next year, the situation around his lease and the condition of the home has created another difficulty for him — one that insiders claim may lead to a reduced allowance. Hence, as the move gets closer, Andrew’s financial outlook appears uncertain.
Royal Family likely to reduce Ex-Prince Andrew’s ‘allowance’ for this reason — report
Ex-Prince Andrew will reportedly depend on King Charles for monetary allowance, but the situation is complex. The former Prince and his ex‑wife, Sarah Ferguson, have lived at Royal Lodge for years, but the property’s mounting repair issues have changed what he expected to receive when he leaves.
The Express reported that he could have collected close to £500,000 for ending his lease early. However, the home needs extensive work, which could wipe out that entire amount.

Palace Confidential presenter Jo Elvin told the tabloid that the result would be hard for Andrew to accept, explaining that it would be “humiliating” for him because it means he would be relying on an “allowance” from King Charles.
Royal experts expect the palace to limit how much help Andrew receives going forward. The Daily Mail’s Royal Editor, Rebecca English, said the Crown will look for ways to “knock off a few pounds here or there” since “no one wants to see” Andrew using public money.
She added that the “suggestion is that the entire half a million pounds that he could have got back for having to leave his lease early could be swallowed up by the repairs.”
Moreover, Richard Eden of the Daily Mail noted, “In the future he is going to be dependent on the King’s generosity. He’s going to be living at the King’s private estate, Sandringham, and given an allowance by his brother the king.”
Now, with repairs likely reducing the payout and royal officials resisting public funds for him, ex-Prince Andrew may have little choice but to rely on King Charles for allowance and accept the criticism that comes with it.
