An attempted kidnapping of a woman at knife-point, as she changed her tyre in Sydney’s south-west, is being treated by police as a “targeted attack”.

Police said a man threatened her with a knife on Browne Parade at Warwick Farm before attempting to drag her towards a Kia SUV on Tuesday.

Members of the public intervened and the man fled the scene in the car, alleged to have been driven by a second suspect, according to police.

A 22-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were arrested in Auburn about 4pm.

Police said both men were charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon, and aggravated robbery using corporal violence.

Police said stolen property was recovered and seized as evidence.

They will allege in court both men followed the woman from a local car park in Liverpool to Browne Parade.

Paramedics treated the 27-year-old for facial and leg injuries before she was taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Acting Inspector Andrew Sweeney said the incident was a “targeted attack”, but the victim had no criminal links and appeared to be “an innocent party”.

“The inquiries we’ve made is she’s not known to these males, but that will be part of the ongoing investigation,” he said.

He said police would also examine whether her tyre was tampered with prior to the attack.

“The actions of the members of the public should be commended,” he said.

“Their bravery and involvement in this incident potentially prevented the incident from escalating further.”
