A brazen attack on Rainbow Bakery in Yarrabilba, Logan (South East Queensland), last Saturday evening has left the local community in shock. The incident not only resulted in severe property damage but also left the owner, 46-year-old Long Kry, hospitalized with a broken leg, forcing the shop to cease operations indefinitely.

Brazen Aggression in a Residential Area

The ordeal began around 7:40 PM on June 6, while Mr. Long Kry was working inside his bakery. He was approached by a group of teenagers who began taunting him from outside. When Mr. Kry stepped out to record their behavior on his phone, the situation escalated rapidly.

Security footage reveals one of the suspects hurling a bottle at the storefront. Despite the presence of other locals nearby, the group showed no signs of hesitation. Describing their boldness, Mr. Kry stated: “Even with other locals around, they were still brazen enough to attack the shop and attack me.”

After a brief departure, the group returned to carry out a more violent assault. One teenager charged at the bakery and executed a fly-kick, shattering the glass door. In a desperate attempt to protect his business, Mr. Kry grabbed a baseball bat to defend himself. However, one of the attackers threw an object at the owner, striking his leg and knocking him to the ground. “Another one threw something at me, it hit my leg and I fell to the ground,” Mr. Kry recalled, recounting the sheer terror of the moment: “I was so fearful, I feared everyone at that moment.”

A Double Tragedy for a Hardworking Family

Thanks to the swift intervention of local residents, Mr. Kry was rushed to the hospital. He has since undergone surgery and faces a long, painful recovery process.

The tragedy extends beyond physical trauma. With the bakery closed—his family’s primary source of income—Mr. Kry is now facing severe financial instability. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by the community to support him, noting: “Small business are the backbone of our community and it’s hard enough without taking these devastating blows, capable of crippling families doing their best to serve the community.”

Facing this harsh reality, Mr. Kry expressed his profound helplessness: “I can’t work. I can’t make money for our family. There’s a lot of uncertainty now.”

Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000 to help bring the perpetrators to justice.
