Brighton beach has become the focus of public attention again following the discovery of a man’s body early this morning, June 4. This incident occurs while the local community is still reeling from a heartbreaking drowning tragedy involving three sisters less than a month ago.

According to reports, emergency services rushed to the scene near Sea Lanes on Madeira Drive at approximately 6:40 a.m. after receiving reports concerning a man in the water. Despite emergency efforts, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Sussex Police are currently working to identify the victim and notify his next of kin. Increased police presence is expected in the area as investigations continue.

The location where the man was found is just half a mile from the Black Rock area, the site of the tragedy on May 13. On that day, three sisters—Jane Adetoro (36), Christina Walters (32), and Rebecca Walters (31)—were tragically pulled from the water following a major search that began at 5:45 a.m.

Regarding the sisters’ tragedy, investigations have revealed a series of irreparable losses for their father, Joseph. Notably, 16 years earlier, his wife Janice (43) also disappeared and was later found drowned in Birmingham. During a recent inquest, senior coroner Penelope Schofield confirmed that police believe there was no third-party involvement in the sisters’ deaths, stating: “I hope this will stop the social media speculation around the circumstances of their deaths.”.

Joseph’s grief is profound. He paid a moving tribute to his daughters: “Today, with a heart full of sorrow and love, I pay tribute to my beloved daughters — Jane, Christina, and Becky — whose lives ended so tragically far too soon.”. He further described the loss: “The tragedy of losing all three of you has left an emptiness that words cannot heal.” and affirmed: “no words can truly describe the pain”.
