Detectives are investigating after a person was declared dead after a unit fire on the Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to a Surf Parade complex at Broadbeach about 11am on Saturday following reports of smoke pouring from one of the units.
When police and firefighters arrived, the apartment was already fully engulfed.
The blaze was brought under control a short time later.
During a search of the unit, crews located a person inside.
CPR was performed but they were declared dead a short time later.
A crime scene has been established, and Burleigh Crime Investigation Branch detectives are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire, including how it started.
Police are urging anyone with information or footage from the area to come forward.
