An investigation is under way into a unexplained death near a popular riverside restaurant in the Adelaide CBD.

Emergency services responded to reports of cardiac or respiratory arrest at 7.38am on Wednesday morning at a public toilet on Jolley’s Lane.

A person was found dead inside, and emergency crews quickly screened off the area.

Eastern District CIB are on scene and further details will be released by police when known.

The entrance to the male toilet block was shielded by large tarps with the corner of King William Rd and Victoria Dr taped off.

More than a dozen police officers and investigators were on the scene with evidence bags collected.

Jolley’s Lane is located next door to the Torrens Rowing Club and River Torrens, and on the eastern side of King William Rd, opposite Elder Park.
