BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Louisiana Supreme Court denied a request from Louisiana rapper Corey Miller to review his case on Tuesday, Feb. 3, stating he has already exhausted his available options in state court.

The 54-year-old New Orleans-born artist, known by his stage name C-Murder, is currently serving a life sentence without parole at Louisiana State Penitentiary following his 2009 second-degree murder conviction in Jefferson Parish.

According to court records, a 16-year-old was shot and killed near Platinum Club in Harvey, La., in January 2002. Witnesses identified Miller as the shooter, and he was later arrested by deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

He was then indicted by a grand jury and sentenced.

C-Murder has maintained his innocence over the years. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and his older brother, rap legend Percy “Master P” Miller, along with civil rights groups, including the NAACP, have attempted to help him gain his freedom.
