Meghan Markle has reportedly been “trying to woo” Netflix rival after string of flops. Sources across Hollywood say there has been “much chatter” at Amazon after Meghan is said to have been trying to “professionally woo” billionaire boss Jeff Bezos.

This comes after Meghan – who is set to release a Christmas special of With Love, Meghan next month – made a return to the acting field earlier this month as she was pictured on the set of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studio film Close Personal Friends. In the film, the 44-year-old will be taking on a cameo role as herself. The former working royal previously earned her star power as an actress on US drama Suits, but quit the role after her engagement to Prince Harry in 2017.

Speaking of Meghan, who has been described as a “canny businesswoman”, a source from rival studio Disney told The Mail on Sunday: “…People find it curious that Meghan seems to be professionally wooing Jeff Bezos but, to be brutally frank, who can blame her? [Bezos] has all the money in the world and is one of the few people who can afford to bankroll any future projects of hers.”

Also discussing Meghan, a source at William Morris Endeavor (WME), Hollywood’s biggest talent agency which represents her told the publication: “The duchess is a smart businesswoman and very much in control of her career and where she sees it going.

“Of course, people are talking about her connection to Jeff Bezos and the fact she’s chosen to star in an Amazon film, but there are very few big players in town and she has two of them – Netflix and Amazon. She’s a canny businesswoman. Underestimate her at your peril.”
