Danielle Uskiwich was accidentally kicked in the head by a crowd surfer while attending Pointfest in St. Louis, Missouri, on May 16
Doctors discovered Uskiwich, 28, had an underlying health condition when she was hospitalized before her death on Tuesday, May 26
“What initially seemed like an unfortunate accident quickly became something much more serious,” her family wrote on GoFundMe

A Missouri woman was allegedly kicked in the head by a crowd surfer at a rock concert just days before she died.

According to a GoFundMe page, Danielle Uskiwich was accidentally injured while watching the band Sleep Theory perform at the rock and heavy metal music festival Pointfest on May 16.

“She went to the concert and she got kicked in the head,” Uskiwich’s friend Angela told KSDK News. “She ended up calling her mom and said she was having headaches.”

As the severity of the headaches worsened, Uskiwich, a 28-year-old secretary at Hardin Middle School, was admitted to the hospital on May 19.

“What initially seemed like an unfortunate accident quickly became something much more serious,” her mother, Lori Uskiwich, and cousin Kristen Shelton wrote on GoFundMe. “…After testing, doctors discovered a brain bleed that was likely caused by the impact from the concert incident.”

Uskiwich suffered strokes on May 21 and May 22, requiring emergency surgery to remove a clot from her brain. During the procedure, doctors found that she needed to have multiple additional clots and six pints of blood removed.

She was placed in a medically induced coma to try to help reduce swelling in the brain, per the GoFundMe.

Uskiwich’s family hoped the accident at Pointfest would “have ultimately saved Danielle’s life,” as it led to doctors discovering she had a “much more serious underlying condition.”

However, she died on Tuesday, May 26, her family announced in an update on GoFundMe. They did not confirm her cause of death.

Uskiwich was transported to Mid-America Transplant in St. Louis, where her organs were donated.

“They determined there wasn’t really anything left that they could do,” Angela told KSDK News. “Her mom, her dad, and her fiancé Jason made the call to donate her organs.”

Uskiwich’s death comes after her recent engagement to her partner, Jason Wright, according to a post on Wright’s Facebook page.

“You hear about people who are soul mates, and they were,” Angela told KSDK News.

Hardin Middle School said in a tribute to Uskiwich on Facebook, “Hardin is saddened to hear about the passing of our former secretary (and current SCHS secretary) Dani Uskiwich. In the time Dani was at Hardin, she dedicated herself to forming relationships with students, parents, and staff.”

“…She was a huge St. Louis Blues fan, and was in the process of planning her wedding. She was far too young to leave this Earth. Please keep her family in your thoughts.”
