A new cinematic phenomenon is sweeping the box office and garnering global attention: Nuremberg. This intense historical drama, which explores the infamous Nuremberg Trials, has stunned audiences by achieving a near-perfect audience rating of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Many viewers are hailing it as the “most devastating historical drama of the decade,” arguing it deserves to be “mandatory viewing for an entire generation.”

The Storm of Truth and Trauma
Featuring an all-star cast including Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Leo Woodall, Nuremberg delivers a brutal, soul-shaking cinematic experience. Early viewers describe the film hitting “like a freight train,” pulling the audience deep into a forgotten chapter of real history with performances so raw they are haunting.
The film’s emotional weight is evident in the viewer feedback. Russell Crowe is praised as “haunting” in his role as Hermann Göring, Rami Malek as “electrifying” playing the psychiatrist Douglas Kelley, and Leo Woodall “breaks your heart” in every scene. Critics have been left stunned, calling Nuremberg “the rare drama that rewrites how we remember the past.” Audiences are reportedly walking out of the theater shaken, silent, and forever changed.
The Cast and Historical Setting
Written and directed by James Vanderbilt (known for White House Down), this historical thriller is based on Jack El-Hai’s acclaimed book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist. The film is set in 1945–46, in the “shadow of crimes that have haunted global history for decades,” focusing on the trials prosecuting prominent Nazi leaders for war crimes.
The synopsis revolves around American psychiatrist Douglas Kelley (played by Rami Malek), who is tasked with evaluating the mental fitness of the Nazi prisoners before they stand trial. This mission places him in a complex and tense battle of wits with Hermann Göring (portrayed by Russell Crowe), Hitler’s right-hand man.
In addition to the two lead stars, the cast also features Michael Shannon, Richard E. Grant, and notably Leo Woodall (One Day), who plays the translator Howard Triest.
Nuremberg premiered in US cinemas on November 7 and will arrive in the UK on November 14, promising to continue sparking heated debates about truth, humanity, and historical memory. It is considered a confronting, uncomfortable, but breathtaking masterpiece, solidifying its position as an unmissable cinematic event.
