Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is facing another blow this year as the former prince has reportedly had his gun licence “revoked”. It is believed that specialist police visited Royal Lodge in Windsor – the Crown Estate home Andrew will be forced to leave next year – and made changes to his gun licence.
It is thought Andrew, who has regularly hosted shooting parties at royal estates over the years, can now only use and transport his shotguns if he is accompanied. It is reported that he owns shotguns and rifles by James Purdey & Sons.
The former duke’s spokesperson has been contacted about the matter.

A source reportedly told The Sun: “He will be under strict supervision. It is a real blow.
“He will now not be able to do things like use guns on his own or even transport them unless he is under strict supervision. It is a real blow to him.”
It is believed police only visited Royal Lodge as gun licences are reviewed regularly, especially if the holder has a change of circumstances – something Andrew has had plenty of this year.
No firearms were thought to have been taken from the property, with police purportedly talking to a staff member of Andrew’s on the royal’s behalf.
The Sun said a Met Police spokesperson confirmed last night: “On Wednesday November 19, firearms licensing officers attended an address in Windsor to request that a man in his 60s voluntarily surrender his firearms and shotgun certificate.
“The certificate was surrendered, and we will be not be commenting any further at this stage.”
It is believed one of the reasons Andrew’s gun licence was reviewed is because he will be moving from Windsor to Norfolk soon, with gun licence holders having to inform authorities about weapons they have when they change addresses.
The Express has contacted Andrew and the Met Police for comment.
