A FAMILY birthday party turned into a bloodbath after a dad allegedly shot his twin 10-year-old sons dead before killing himself.

Joseph and Greysen Chavez were found dead inside a bedroom at an apartment complex in Canoga Park, Los Angeles, on Sunday night.

Police later revealed the 37-year-old father had allegedly aimed his gun at the boys’ mother and fired but missed before turning the weapon on himself.

The horror unfolded as relatives had gathered for the boy’s grandmother’s birthday party, according to witnesses.

Officers rushed to the complex on the 8000 block of Owensmouth Avenue, near Strathern Street, at around 7:15 pm after reports of shots fired.

Inside a bedroom, they found the bodies of the twin brothers and their 37-year-old father.

All three had suffered gunshot wounds to the head, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.

Investigators later revealed he had also allegedly fired at his wife but missed.

The boys’ mother survived the shooting and was seen grieving outside the apartment complex with relatives.

The suspected murder-suicide unfolded as stunned neighbors watched the police response swarm the area.

One neighbor told KTLA she had spoken to the family in passing earlier that same day.

“They were super nice. The sweetest boys ever,” the neighbor said.

“I really didn’t believe it until I saw them take out the bodies.”

The children’s deaths have left the family and community reeling.

Police have not released the father’s name.

The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.

Authorities have not said what may have led to the violence inside the apartment.

LAPD said the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
