Young Mother Fatally Stabbed While Sleeping Beside Husband and Three-Month-Old Baby, Court Told
A quiet Sunday morning turned into a scene of unimaginable tragedy after a young mother was allegedly stabbed to death while sleeping beside her husband and three-month-old baby, a London court has heard.
Prosecutors allege that Daniel Sean James, 46, forced his way into the family’s Hayes home before fatally attacking Kirandeep Kaur, 24, as the couple and their infant slept.
The case is now proceeding through the courts, with James charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a bladed article. He has not yet entered pleas to the charges.
Prosecutors Describe a Sudden and Violent Attack
According to proceedings at the Old Bailey, the incident unfolded shortly before 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Prosecutors allege that, moments before entering the home, James stabbed a man in his 20s in the back on a nearby street.
He then allegedly went to Kaur’s home on Uxbridge Road in Hayes, kicked the front door until he gained entry, and made his way inside while the young family was asleep.
The court heard that Kaur’s husband woke after hearing his wife scream and saw a figure leaving the bedroom.
Kirandeep Kaur had suffered a stab wound to the chest and was later pronounced dead at 8:26 a.m.

Prosecutors told the court that after the alleged attack, James jumped from a window, breaking both ankles.
Police detained him nearby before he was taken to hospital for treatment.
Following his release from hospital, he was charged with:
Murder
Attempted murder
Possession of a bladed article
The attempted murder charge relates to the earlier street stabbing, prosecutors said.
Court Appearance
James, of Mercer Place, Pinner, appeared before the Old Bailey via video link from Wormwood Scrubs prison.
Judge Nigel Lickley KC scheduled a plea hearing for 1 October and ordered that James remain in custody until then.
As with all criminal proceedings, the allegations remain before the court, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Community Left in Shock
The death of the 24-year-old mother has deeply shocked the local community.
According to prosecutors, the attack occurred while Kaur was asleep beside both her husband and her three-month-old baby, making the circumstances particularly devastating.
Police have not publicly disclosed any motive during the ongoing court proceedings.
The case will return to the Old Bailey later this year as the criminal process continues.
