A woman’s mysterious death on the NSW mid-north coast has sparked a plea for information from police, as detectives declare it ‘suspicious’.

Emergency crews were called to a waterfront unit on Gore St in Port Macquarie about 11.40am on December 27.

Inside they found Megan Tangye, 31, suffering multiple unexplained injuries.

She was rushed to Port Macquarie Hospital where she later sadly died.

It’s understood detectives were unable to properly interview her about what happened.

‘Megan was always so kind and caring,’ her sister-in-law Erin Russell told the ABC.

‘She would always be the first person to check in on others.’

‘This has hit very close to home; we’re not coping so well… But we’re not going to let this defeat us.’

The case is being investigated under Strike Force Hazen.

Following extensive enquiries and a post-mortem, police confirmed they are treating her death as suspicious.

‘The [types of] injuries form part of our suspicions around her death,’ Detective Inspector Mark Rogers told reporters.

He said officers have spoken with a number of people but no charges have been laid.

‘There’s a number of inquiries we’ll keep an open mind about … if anyone’s heard anything or has any information regarding Megan, we would urge them to come forward.’
