A BRIDE-TO-BE planning two wedding ceremonies has been killed by a driver who allegedly mounted a sidewalk and fled.

The horror unfolded Friday at a bus stop near National Avenue and 35th Street in San Diego, California.

Police said the driver drove onto the sidewalk and hit Osorio as she sat inside a partially enclosed bus bench.

She was rushed to a local hospital but later died from her injuries.

Her family said Osorio fought to survive after the crash.

“Tragically, while waiting at a bus stop in San Diego, Katie was the victim of a hit-and-run accident,” a GoFundMe for the family read.

“She fought bravely to stay alive, but sadly, she passed away.

“Our family is devastated by this sudden loss, and we are doing everything we can to honor her memory and support her loved ones during this heartbreaking time.”

Osorio’s cousin, Evelin Osorio, said, Katie was preparing to enrol in a nursing school.

She was also planning a courthouse wedding in July before a larger celebration in Mexico City in December.

“A big wedding in Mexico City in December and doing a courthouse in July,” Evelin told ABC affiliate KGTV.

The 27-year-old had been working two jobs in San Diego while helping support her mother in Mexico, according to the fundraiser.

Her family said that she was also managing a business back home, and always put her loved ones first.

“My cousin, Katie Janeth Osorio, was a devoted daughter, cousin, and friend who worked tirelessly in San Diego to support her mother in Mexico,” the GoFundMe read.

“She balanced two jobs while also managing a business back home, always putting her family first.”

The fundraiser said that Osorio first lived with relatives when she arrived in the US before returning to Mexico.

She later came back and stayed with an uncle.

“Her determination, strength, and love for her family touched everyone who knew her,” the page said.

The fundraiser has raised $5,297 of its $6,500 goal to help cover crime-related expenses.

Evelin said witnesses at the scene found Osorio’s phone and called relatives to tell them what had happened.

“There were people at the scene notifying us, the person kind of reversed and tried leaving, and did go over her body again,” Evelin said.

“Just the act of not stopping is a vicious and cruel crime.

“We want justice for Katie.

“We want for her name to continue living on.”

Police later found and arrested the driver.

She has been identified as Assamaa Elayyat, 41.

Elayyat works for San Diego County as deputy director for Self-Sufficiency Services, according to 2024 county records.

“We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic loss of life,” the county said in a statement to FOX affiliate KUSI.

“Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and all who are grieving during this incredibly difficult time.”

Elayyat was booked under several hit-and-run charges, including vehicular manslaughter.

She has since posted bond and she is expected to be arraigned on June 1.

Police have not said whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
