Dutton Ranch gets major update as Paramount+ confirms future of Yellowstone spin-off

Dutton Ranch had a record-breaking debut last month with almost 13 million viewers in its first week.

Dutton Ranch is almost over but before its finale airs in a couple of weeks, Paramount Plus has given fans an update. Yellowstone fanatics were thrilled when it was announced Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser would reprise their iconic roles Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler for their own spin-off, Dutton Ranch.

The nine-episode Western drama began in May and it didn’t take long for fans to fall in love with the new series as Dutton Ranch attracted almost 13 million viewers in the first week of its release, in a record-breaking debut. Now, with just two episodes left to come out before Dutton Ranch season one is done and dusted with, Paramount Plus has confirmed its future.

Dutton Ranch fans don’t need to worry about if they’ll be getting more of the hit show as Paramount Plus has announced its season two renewal.

This doesn’t come as too much of a surprise given the various records that it has broken since the Western drama’s release.

Not only did its debut last month mark the biggest Original Series launch in Paramount Plus history but it also delivered 2.9 million total viewers during its two-episode debut, “making it the biggest series premiere on cable since 2023”.

The streamer also shares that, according to Nielsen, that Dutton Ranch was the number one streaming series based on its average audience for the week of May 11 when it was released.

Head of Originals for Paramount Plus Jane Wiseman said: “Beth and Rip are among the most iconic duos in television history and we are thrilled to bring a whole new world to life with Dutton Ranch for our subscribers around the world.

“We’re also incredibly grateful to our partners, including the teams at Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, for bringing this new series to life with such grit, heart and authenticity.”

Season one of Dutton Ranch revolves around Beth and Rip fighting to build a future together “far from the ghosts of Montana”.

However, it doesn’t take them too long after moving to Texas to “collide with brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch that will stop at nothing to protect its empire”.

There are just two more episodes left to watch before Dutton Ranch season one comes to an end, with the penultimate instalment dropping this Friday, June 26, and the grand finale the following week on Friday, July 3.

But how will Beth and Rip’s story be left in the last episode and how will this be tied into the newly confirmed second season?
