A man killed in a five-person shooting in what police believe is the latest underworld attack at a home in Sydney’s south-west overnight has been identified.
Alai Ahio, 28, died in hospital after the alleged shooting. Ahio, a former associate of Sydney-based rap group OneFour, was one of a group of men who were ambushed as they sat in the garage of a home in Canley Heights.
There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by the men at the home, or by members of the group OneFour.

Police first responded to Triple Zero calls reporting gunshots at the home just before 8.20pm.
At about 8.30pm, two men, including Ahio and another man aged 32, presented to Liverpool Hospital with multiple wounds. Ahio underwent surgery but later died.
The other man remains in hospital in a serious condition with a neck injury.
About 10 minutes later, two more men, aged 23 and 22, presented to Fairfield Hospital in a serious condition.
They have since been transferred to different hospitals for treatment.
The 23-year-old is being treated for a gunshot injury to his neck, and the 22-year-old is being treated for a shoulder injury.

More than an hour later, at 9.50pm, the fifth man, aged 19, appeared at Liverpool Hospital with injuries to his arm.
He remains in a stable condition.
Detective Superintendent Craig Middleton said police believe two other men had entered the Canley Vale home and gunfire had erupted shortly after.
Those two men are then believed to have fled in a car, possibly a white SUV.
Ahio and the four wounded men were all known to each other, Middleton said. Police are investigating links to the underworld, particularly around the growing group known as the “coconut cartel”, but no concrete links have been established thus far.

Middleton said two cars which had transported the first four men to hospital had been found at a Saint Johns Park address, where a second crime scene was established.
He said this was believed to be a targeted attack, and that police were establishing preventative measures to prevent any similar occurrences in the next 24 to 48 hours.
The motive for the attack is so far unclear.
“It’s a very brazen, violent attack,” Middleton said.
“We’re obviously looking at some organised crime information, but it’s very early days.”
Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command – with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – are investigating.
