An Australian man was arrested after allegedly causing more than $26,000 worth of damage to a cafe in Vietnam.
Disturbing footage shows a man, identified as an Australian tourist, destroying a cafe in Da Nang, a coastal city in central Vietnam, from about 12.10am on Saturday.
It’s alleged the Australian sat at a table in Ge cafe, on Le Hong Phong St, and then began talking with a man at the next seat over, but he suddenly took his phone.
The Aussie tourist refused to give the Vietnamese man his phone back, so staff at the cafe called the police.
Footage shows the Australian suddenly became enraged, stood up and yelled to the other patrons, ‘You have 10 seconds to leave,’ before he then appears to tear apart the eatery.
He took off his shirt before allegedly grabbing a chair to sweep items off the coffee counter, knocking ceramics, jars and even the expensive coffee machine to the floor.
The tourist also threw furniture at the store’s windows and destroyed valuable customer belongings – including a Macbook laptop which he pulled out of a bag, snapped in half, and then flung out the broken window.
During the attack he allegedly yelled ‘I know what you’re doing’, ‘anyone in this hotel, leave’ and ‘I’m danger’.

He later spotted a group of frightened diners hiding on the second flood and kicked down a door to reach them.
Footage showed the Australian appearing to put one of them in a chokehold for about two minutes.
The cafe owner told local outlet VN Express that the attack lasted about 30 minutes.
Police arrived as another customer was fighting the Australian to free the man in the chokehold.
The Australian was restrained in handcuffs and marched onto the street in his underwear, in front of dozens of onlookers.
Authorities alleged he caused ₫500,000,000 (about AUD$26,431) worth of damage to the cafe.
Several customers’ phones, as well as the laptop, were also damaged.
‘Seeing the visitor causing a disturbance, many customers ran outside without time to take their belongings, which were destroyed,’ an official said.
