The latest details surrounding an incident where an Australian tourist flew into a frenzy, causing violence and violently ransacking a busy cafe in Da Nang, have been unpacked by international media, exposing the suspect’s frantic level of aggression. Not only did the man destroy property, but he also issued threats to those around him, leaving the shop owner facing a massive damage bill.

According to witnesses and staff present at the scene at the time of the incident, the outbreak of violence erupted after a kind customer offered his phone to assist in translation. Instead of showing gratitude, the foreign man suddenly stood up, grabbed, and smashed the phone. More alarmingly, staff reported that the suspect immediately shouted a defiant and chilling ultimatum: “You have ten seconds to leave”.

Immediately following that fateful ultimatum, an unprecedented wave of brutal destruction took place. Surveillance footage captured the suspect grabbing a chair inside the cafe and using it as a battering ram to directly attack the front counter and the expensive coffee machine. After ravaging the service area, he proceeded to use the chair to smash the large front windows of the shop.

As customers inside the cafe fled in terror to ensure their safety, the foreign man began to frantically rifle through the bags they had left behind. The frenzy escalated to the point where he grabbed a laptop off a table and literally turned it into “two frisbees” by breaking it in half.

The tension of the incident continued to escalate as the suspect turned his attention to the space upstairs. On the second floor, a group of customers watched in horror as the aggressive man began heading toward them next. The violent individual kicked the door open before rushing in and putting one man in a headlock.

Upon receiving the emergency report, local police officers began to assemble outside the storefront. Law enforcement then rushed in, vowing to surround and successfully arrest the suspect. The rioter was subsequently marched away to a patrol vehicle in an incredibly disheveled state, wearing nothing but his underwear.

The aftermath of the Australian tourist’s minutes-long frenzy left the scene in total ruin. The unexpected disaster forced the cafe to shut down temporarily for up to three days for cleanup and urgent repairs. Currently, while the suspect is being detained and questioned by Vietnamese police to serve the investigation, the owners of the cafe are seeking compensation for a damage bill reported to be as high as $26,000 USD.
