Two officers who failed to breath test Premier Daniel Andrews’ wife at the scene of a 2013 car accident have been let off with a warning, Victoria Police say.

Victorian premier Daniel Andrews’ wife wasn’t breath tested after being involved in a car crash, and the police officers involved have been let off with a caution.

Victoria Police has refused a freedom of information request for documents about the crash at Blairgowrie in January 2013, but confirmed two officers who failed to breath test Catherine Andrews have been issued a warning.

The smash left a 15-year-old boy on a bicycle with serious injuries.

“This was a traumatic incident for everybody involved and I again take the opportunity to wish the family (of the teen) all the very best for the future,” Mr Andrews told reporters on Tuesday.


Victoria Police refused to release documents detailing the investigation into the crash because they weren’t deemed to be in the public interest, Nine News reported on Monday.

“I want to be very clear with you, in terms of the most recent coverage, neither I nor anybody in my office had anything to do or any involvement with that matter, and I have no further comment to make,” Mr Andrews said.

Former speaker Christine Fyffe asked Mr Andrews in parliament last week if the United Firefighters Union had any hold on him as part of controversial pay negotiations, and asked if there had been a “deliberate concealing of facts” involving the traffic incident.

“I think those comments speak for themselves and I have absolutely no comment to make on that,” Mr Andrews told reporters.
