The Princess Royal presented a trophy to Scotland’s skipper
Princess Anne has been captured in an awkward live TV moment with Scotland’s rugby captain Sione Tuipulotu.
The Princess Royal has held the position of Scottish Rugby Union patron since 1986 and had the task of presenting the Calcutta Cup.
Scotland came out victors in the match against England, ending their 12-match winning run.
The fixture, played at Murrayfield in Edinburgh, saw Mr Tuipulotu go collect the cup from Anne.

Anne backed off from the skipper and patted him on the shoulder with her right hand before handing Mr Tuipulotu the trophy.
Speaking after the game, Mr Tuipulotu said: “I’m extremely proud.
“To go through what we went through last week really hurt, and we understood because we deserved it. Ultimately, Italy were better than us.

“We really felt like our backs were against the wall, and we showed up today. I felt guilty. Head coaching is a hard job because when it is going well, you get all the positives, but when it is not going well, you get all of the criticism.
“We got behind our coach this week. I’m proud of the boys for getting behind our coach and delivering a performance.”
The victory saw Scotland reclaim the cup for the first time since 2018, scoring four tries to two against Steve Borthwick’s side, winning 31-20.
Both nations now sit level in the Six Nations Championship with one victory and one defeat apiece following the opening fortnight of competition.

The result dealt a significant blow to England’s ambitions of securing their first championship title since 2020.
Scotland has now claimed the Calcutta Cup on seven occasions during the past nine encounters between the two nations.
England rugby legend Mike Tindall previously shared his predictions heading into the Six Nations.
Mike, 47, predicted England would win all of their games in the competition, going five wins out of five.

The defeat marks a blow to the former England rugby star’s guesses, now only getting one correct so far with three games to play.
England did get off to a winning start in the tournament, producing an electrifying display under the lights at Twickenham as they ran out 48-7 winners against Wales in their opening match.
With scoring seven tries in the match, they’ve also secured a bonus point that could prove crucial by the end of the campaign.
Their next fixture is against Ireland next week, with Scotland set to play Wales.
