Prince William’s godmother Lady Susan Hussey is welcomed back into the fold on Queen Elizabeth’s centenary

Lady Susan Hussey stepped back from royal duties in 2022, but it appears she has now been welcomed back into the fold following a new appearance
ady Susan Hussey made a rare appearance on Tuesday when she joined members of the royal family at a reception at Buckingham Palace in honour of the late Queen’s centenary.
The former lady-in-waiting was seen having a conversation with the Duke of Kent during the event and opted to wear a black dress. She was also present on Monday at an exhibition honouring the late Queen’s fashion choices, although she was not pictured.
The event was held on what would have been Queen Elizabeth II’s 100th birthday. Members of the royal family started the day at the British Museum to observe memorials that will be dedicated to the late monarch, with Princess Anne opening a memorial garden at Regent’s Park.
Following the conclusion of these events, the festivities headed to Buckingham Palace where King Charles was joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales among other family members.

Stepping down from duties
Lady Susan, who is the godmother of Prince William, stepped down from her royal duties in November 2022 following allegations of racism. The comments were directed at Ngozi Fulani, chief executive of Sistah Space, who was invited to the reception on the topic of violence against women.
Ngozi recalled the conversation on Twitter, describing it as a “violation” and said the experience will never leave her. She added said the household member challenged her when she said her charity was based in Hackney, saying: “No, what part of Africa are YOU from?”
A palace spokesperson said at the time: “We take this incident extremely seriously and have investigated immediately to establish the full details. In this instance, unacceptable and deeply regrettable comments have been made. We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person if she wishes.
Lady Susan met Ngozi weeks after the event, offering her apologies in person. A statement released confirmed that Lady Susan’s apology was accepted and that the conversation was “filled with warmth and understanding”.
