A young woman has been struck and killed by a ute on a busy freeway following a collision with another vehicle.

She pulled over on the Pacific Motorway at Loganlea, south of Brisbane, after her white Audi hatchback was involved in a minor crash with a black MG station wagon in a northbound lane at about 3.40pm on Monday.

After exchanging details with the other driver, the woman was returning to her vehicle when she was struck by a white Isuzu dual cab ute.

The woman, aged in her 30s, sustained critical injuries and died at the scene.

The ute driver is assisting police with their inquiries. No charges have been laid.

The fatal crash came after two separate collisions on the same motorway, including a 10-car pile-up that caused major traffic delays.

The Pacific Motorway was closed to all traffic for five hours as the Forensic Crash Unit investigated the crash scene.

Motorists reported that the delays added hours to their journey home.

Traffic was backed out for more than 10km for about three hours after the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage is urged to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
