The series, which ran for four seasons from 2022 to 2025, follows a talented doctor who moves to the US in search of treatment for her son. But when she witnesses a murder, she’s forced to work for the mob.
What is The Cleaning Lady about?
The series follows a talented Cambodian-Filipino doctor, Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung), who arrives in the United States seeking medical treatment for her gravely-ill son. But when the system fails her, she outstays her visa and takes on cleaning work to stay afloat.
After inadvertently witnessing a gangland murder, Thony falls into organised crime and begins working as both a cleaner and a doctor for a mob syndicate to get treatment for her son.

Adan Canto also stars in the series as Arman Morales, alongside Oliver Hudson as FBI Agent Garrett Miller and Martha Millan as Thony’s sister-in-law and a fellow cleaner, Fiona.
What are viewers saying about the show?
Viewers have hailed the series as “addictive,” with many binge-watching all four seasons in a matter of days.
Taking to X, one person wrote: “First episode of The Cleaning Lady and I’m hooked,” while another added: “I binge watched The Cleaning Lady series in three days. Wow! The series was so good.”

A third viewer penned: “I just binge-watched The Cleaning Lady. What a rollercoaster of a show,” while another added: “I binge watched The Cleaning Lady today and it was sooo good.”
Meanwhile, the show received mixed reviews from TV critics, with The Hollywood Reporter stating that despite the “bloody twists and tear-jerking turns,” the series feels “oddly sedate,” while Variety described it as “a rocky but moving look at immigration and crime”.
Why was The Cleaning Lady cancelled?
In June last year, the show was cancelled after four seasons. It’s been reported that the drama was axed due to poor ratings. The show’s cancellation followed the tragic loss of male lead Adan Canto to cancer in 2024, which led to plot changes in season three.
