Prince Harry Announces One of His First Engagements Since Moving Back to the U.K., and It Involves a Skydive

The Duke of Sussex and other fellow veterans will skydive this month to raise money for Canadian military charities

Prince Harry has scheduled one of his first public engagements since his move back to the U.K.

Later this month, the Duke of Sussex, 41, is set to skydive to raise money for military charities and to keep a promise he made to a 102-year-old veteran.

Harry met World War II vet Ed Marshall during a visit to Sunnybrook Hospital’s veterans center in Toronto last November.

“They quickly bonded over their shared experience of military service and the way they have continued to serve their communities,” the Sunnybrook Foundation shared on its fundraiser page.

Marshall, who trained as a paratrooper during World War II, proudly told Harry about the charity skydive he completed on his 100th birthday two years prior.

“The idea stuck, and together, they devised a plan for another jump,” the organization noted.

Marshall will not be joining the Duke on his upcoming dive, the exact location and timing of which have yet to be announced, though it’s set to take place later this month. However, the veteran will be represented by his grandson, Bailey.

The jump will raise money for both Sunnybrook and True Patriot Love Foundation, both of which support Canada’s military veterans.

In fact, it was TPLF that initially connected Harry with Sunnybrook and helped him bring his Invictus Games to Canada in 2017 and 2025.

The skydive is set to be one of Harry’s first public engagements since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, relocated their family back to the U.K. for an extended period.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — as well as their dogs, Pula and Mia, officially touched down in England on Aug. 26.

PEOPLE understands that Harry will continue his charitable work on both sides of the Atlantic, including preparations for the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, England, while Meghan will continue to run her As ever lifestyle brand, and the couple will maintain Archewell Productions and their charitable foundation, Archewell Philanthropies.

While news of the move came together in a matter of weeks, sources have told PEOPLE that the decision itself was far from sudden.

“It’s something Harry has been thinking about for a while,” said a source close to the duke.

Another source close to the couple agreed: “Harry never really stopped missing home. He’s missed that sense of connection and belonging. Britain is still home in many ways.”
