Just weeks after NASCAR icon Greg Biffle and six others tragically lost their lives in a plane crash in North Carolina, it has been confirmed that Biffle’s home was broken into, with thieves making away with a substantial sum of money.
As reported by WCNC Charlotte, the burglary took place on 8 January at Biffle’s property in Mooresville, North Carolina, roughly three weeks following the fatal accident, with his racing adversary recently expressing his condolences in a touching message.
Iredell County deputies revealed that around £22,000 ($30,000) in cash and a backpack were stolen from the premises. The incident occurred after 6 p.m., with investigators noting evidence of forced entry.
No arrests have yet been made. In a statement quoted by WCNC, authorities stated, “It’s unclear if detectives have identified any suspects or persons of interest at this time.”
The names listed on the police report include Cathy Rose Grossu, the mother of Biffle’s wife, Cristina, and Jordyn Biffle Carpenter, Biffle’s niece
This burglary comes in the wake of the horrific plane crash on 18 December in Statesville, North Carolina, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals.
Biffle, his wife Cristina, their son Ryder, and daughter Emma were tragically killed when a Cessna Citation business jet crashed shortly after takeoff from Statesville Regional Airport. Dennis Dutton, his son Jack Dutton, and Craig Wadsworth also lost their lives in the accident.
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the crash. It has been confirmed that the aircraft was airborne for approximately 10 minutes before it crashed short of the runway.

The cockpit voice recorder has been retrieved and sent to Washington, D. C., for examination. A preliminary report is anticipated within 30 days, while a comprehensive investigation could take between 12 to 18 months.
At the time of his death, Biffle was 55 and had recently been recognised as one of NASCAR’s 75 Greatest Drivers. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he clinched championships in both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Xfinity Series, and achieved 19 victories in the Cup Series.
Between 2002 and 2022, he made 515 Cup starts, the majority with Roush Racing, and achieved a career-best second place in the standings in 2005.
A public memorial event to honour the victims of the plane crash is planned for Friday, Jan. 16, at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The service will be livestreamed on NASCAR platforms.
