A new film based on one of the UK’s biggest artists right now has been described as “genius”, and it has now dropped on to one streaming platform.

The Moment is a mockumentary film directed by Aidan Zamiri, who co-wrote it with Bertie Brandes from an original idea by Charli xcx. Released in 2026, the film stars Charli xcx, Rosanna Arquette, Kate Berlant, Jamie Demetriou, Hailey Benton Gates, Isaac Powell, and Alexander Skarsgård.

The Moment premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2026, and was released very shortly after. Now, it is streaming on Amazon Prime; viewers will be pleased to learn.

The film’s synopsis reads: “A rising pop star navigates the complexities of fame and industry pressure while preparing for her arena tour debut.”

It has amassed a great score of 66% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The critics’ consensus reads: “Satirising Brat Summer and the pitfalls of pop stardom, The Moment is a mockumentary that could’ve used sharper barbs, but Charli XCX acquits herself well as a presence that can bind even an unwieldy movie together.”

One critic said: “A brilliant mockumentary that really takes on a darker tone when you realise how many artists have had to live through experiences like this throughout their careers. This is a haunting brilliance to The Moment.”

“Refusing to take itself too seriously, this spirited contemporary period piece captures some of the insanity that was brat summer – but crucially reminds us there’s something to be said for knowing when to leave the party,” added another.

One fan said: “Absolutely genius work. Super interesting to see what the results are when you lock in and provide your input/opinion, even when it’s exhausting, versus when you take the less taxing route of allowing your record label or higher-ups to make these decisions for you. The editing was captivating, the story was fresh, the acting was excellent, the satire was perfectly balanced with the stress you felt for the artist and team, and I laughed throughout.”

Another described it as an “incredible movie experience.”

They added: “This was awesome honestly. Everybody in it felt so natural; I eventually forgot that I was watching a fictional thing. This movie had a great sense of humour, wonderfully harsh editing, and a HELL of an effective needle drop in the final moments. I loved this so much, I will be watching it again. I have to add one more sentence in order to meet the minimum character limit.”

The Moment is available to stream now on Amazon Prime.
