pple TV has just unveiled the trailer for season five of its hit comedy-drama Trying, starring Rafe Spall and Esther Smith. If you haven’t yet caught up on the first four seasons, consider this your sign to start binge-watching!
Created by Andy Wolton, the heartwarming series follows Nikki and Jason, a couple in their thirties who turn to adoption after struggling to conceive. The story tracks their emotional journey to parenthood, eventually leading to the adoption of siblings Princess and Tyler.

What to expect from Trying season five
As per the official synopsis, season five finds Nikki and Jason “dealing with the consequences of Princess (Scarlett Rayner) and Tyler’s (Cooper Turner) biological mother Kat (Charlotte Riley) turning up at their doorstep, and the whirlwind of chaos she brings into their settled family life”.

Rafe Spall (Under Salt Marsh) and Esther Smith (Cuckoo) lead the cast as Jason and Nikki.
They’re joined by returning stars Darren Boyd (The Outlaws) as Scott, Sian Brooke (Blue Lights) as Karen, Scarlett Rayner (Sexy Beast) as Princess, Cooper Turner as Tyler, Celia Imrie (The Thursday Murder Club) as Penny and Phil Davis (Whitechapel) as Jason’s dad, Vic.

The series, which boasts an impressive 96 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, has been hailed by viewers as “addictive” and “moving”.

The new eight-part series will premiere globally on Apple TV with its first episode on Wednesday, 8 July, followed by one episode weekly until the finale on 26 August.
