Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is set for a major life change over the coming weeks as he is finally set to hand over the keys to Royal Lodge. The former prince has called the 30-room Windsor mansion home since 2004, with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, having moved into the abode with him from 2008 as a housemate.
While the pair, who divorced years before they began cohabiting the mansion, have always been good friends, it seems that the close connection between them is no more. Rather than being the “happiest divorced couple in the world”, a description once used by Sarah, they are now set to live “separate lives”.
This comes after months of reports that Sarah will not move with Andrew to his new home, Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate, and will instead look for her own Windsor property.
Sarah is reportedly not keen to have much to do with her scandal-ridden ex-husband anymore, with a friend suggesting they will only stay in touch for one reason.
As reported by GB News, a friend of the divorced couple recently revealed: “He and Sarah will go their own separate ways for the first time in almost 20 years.
“Apart from involvement with the children and grandchildren, they will live separate lives.”
It is not known the exact reason for this; however, it is believed that the former Duchess of York wants a fresh start away from her ex.

This comes after both Andrew and Sarah were hit with fresh scandals just months ago surrounding their past friendships with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, prompting them to lose their royal titles and Royal Lodge.
While Andrew, who denies all accusations against him, has been involved in scandals surrounding Epstein before, Sarah was likely surprised to find herself entangled in such a situation.
This is because in September it emerged that Sarah had emailed Epstein in 2011 after he was released from prison for child sex offences, with the former duchess calling him a “supreme friend” in the email.
She then apologised for criticising him in a previous media interview. A spokesperson for Sarah has claimed that she sent the email out of fear that Epstein would sue her for defamation.
Sarah has kept a low profile since the scandal and has not commented on her decision not to live with Andrew anymore.
