The Sussexes have kept rescued hens at their Californian home since 2021

Princess Lilibet, now four years old, was captured on camera near the property’s chicken enclosure during what appeared to be a bright California afternoon.

Meghan Markle uploaded intimate home video content to her Instagram account on Monday, offering a glimpse of her youngest child at the family’s Montecito residence.

The footage showed the young royal bending down in Wellington boots, reaching out to stroke one of the birds as her mother filmed and laughed.

Lilibet’s striking auburn locks were clearly visible in the clip, a trait she shares with her elder brother Prince Archie, both having inherited the colouring from their father.

The Sussexes have kept rescued hens at their Californian home since 2021, housing them in a coop affectionately dubbed “Archie’s Chick Inn” as a tribute to their now six-year-old son.

In the brief video, the Duchess of Sussex could be heard giggling behind the camera as the chickens roamed about in the sunshine.

The clip concluded just as Lilibet, dressed in her boots, appeared to begin saying something to her mother.

Both Sussex children have inherited their father’s distinctive red hair colouring, a feature that was particularly noticeable as Lilibet crouched down to interact with the birds.

Separate footage shared to her Instagram Stories on March 16 showed Meghan demonstrating her flower-arranging abilities.

The duchess wore her hair pulled back with a black headband and had on a simple long-sleeved knitted top as she worked on a vase of pink roses at an outdoor table.

Prince Harry could be heard providing commentary from off-camera, describing the floral arrangement as “beautiful”.

The duchess also posted a close-up photograph showcasing the pink and green tones of the blooms, alongside additional footage of herself picking purple blossoms from a tree on the property.

The heartwarming chicken coop footage follows other recent glimpses into family life shared by the duchess.

On International Women’s Day, Meghan posted a photograph of herself embracing Lilibet as they sat together on rocks gazing out at the ocean during a beach outing.

“For the woman she will one day be… Happy International Women’s Day,” the duchess wrote alongside the image, which was taken by Prince Harry.

During her visit to Colombia in 2024, Meghan spoke about her approach to parenting, noting that she tries to encourage her daughter, who “at three, she has found her voice.”
