Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi was given a stern look after laughing during a church service, a former politician has claimed.

The husband of Princess Beatrice has made headlines in recent days regarding his six-year marriage to the eldest daughter of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson.

However, insiders close to the royal couple have slapped down these rumours, claiming that they are “not true at all”.

Amid that backdrop, Nadine Dorries, the former Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from 2021 to 2022, has claimed that she recently attended a church service in the Cotswolds where Beatrice, 37, and Mr Mapelli Mozzi, 42, were present.

She claimed: “At a church service, I found Beatrice and Eugenie and their husbands seated behind me.

“Edo was laughing loudly and generally behaving like a disrespectful teenager so that, at one point, I turned round and gave him the evil eye that only a woman my age – and a mother – can bestow.”

Ms Dorries, 68, continued to write in the Mail: “To his credit, he got the message, pronto. But there was an arrogance there that smacked of immaturity.”

It comes as claims have been firmly rejected by Princess Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s friends that their marriage is under strain.

Friends dismissed reports suggesting the pair were experiencing difficulties, describing such speculation as entirely unfounded.

A friend of Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi said: “The only thing Bea and Edo are navigating are their busy jobs and looking after their children!

“They’ve both had recent stints working abroad and like so many working parents, have balancing work with looking after the kids.”

The source continued to tell Hello!: “Recent reports that things aren’t good between them are not true at all.

“Things are great between them, and the only distance between them recently has been physical distance because of work!”

The property developer has been travelling extensively for business in recent weeks, with trips taking him to Palm Beach and Fisher Island near Miami.

During these overseas work commitments, Beatrice is understood to have stayed in the capital caring for their two young daughters, three-year-old Sienna and one-year-old Athena.

Friends insist this arrangement reflects nothing more than the ordinary challenges faced by working parents juggling professional demands with childcare responsibilities.

The couple appeared to present a united front over the weekend when they were spotted enjoying an evening out together in Notting Hill.

Beatrice and Mr Mapelli Mozzi dined at Eeel Sushi Bar, where they reportedly remained for approximately two hours before departing in a Porsche.

The Princess of York has maintained a notably low profile since her father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s, arrest on February 19 for suspicion of misconduct in public office.

He was released on investigation that evening and has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
