Eagle-eyed fans spot young royal’s uncanny resemblance to unlikely relative

A single side-by-side photo has royal watchers all thinking the same thing.

Eagle-eyed royalists cannot believe the uncanny resemblance between a young royal and an unlikely relative. Fans were stunned by the many similarities after a royal fan account posted the image of a pair side by side

The unlikely pair was Isla Phillips and her great-grandfather, the late Prince Philip. The 14-year-old, who is Princess Anne’s granddaughter, bears a striking resemblance to a photo of Prince Philip in his youth, with a similar smile and eyes. Responding to the post by the Instagram account, British Royal Children, fans could not believe the connection.

One fan remarked that “Prince Philip exists in another way”, while a second said she was “the only one that truly resembles him”.

However, others believe Isla is the “copy of her aunt Zara”. Tatler once even remarked, “Isla could have been a twin for Zara in her youth”, thanks to their fair features and blue eyes.

The 14-year-old royal is 21st in line to the throne, as the second daughter of Peter Phillips, who is Princess Anne’s son. He and Autumn Phillips had Isla in March 2012, four years after they married in 2008.

Peter Phillips was the first of the Queen and Prince Philip’s grandchildren to marry. The couple’s first child, Savannah, was born in 2010, and Isla arrived a year and a half later.

Whether Princess Anne sees the resemblance remains unknown, but she will likely be moved to see that her granddaughter resembles her father, with whom she shared a uniquely close bond.

The Princess Royal was often described by royal watchers as the son he never had, bonding over a mutual love of equestrian sports, having nurtured her love of riding horses long before she competed in the Olympics.

Royalists also note that Princess Anne’s sharp wit and no-nonsense attitude mirrored her father’s, earning deep respect for her pragmatic approach to royal duties.
