Prince William’s grandmother was very cool despite her status
t is safe to say Prince William has a very cool grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. And despite her prominent royal status, the monarch was reportedly very good at balancing her grandmotherly duties and being a leader.

Queen Elizabeth II’s cool reaction over Prince William’s ‘awkward’ mistake
Although the late queen was a stickler for rules and protocol, she was also very understanding when people were imperfectly human.
In fact, she was said to actually love it when when things went a bit awry during royal events.
So when her beloved grandson, Prince William, made a bit of a muck up at a diplomatic banquet, the then-monarch managed to find humour in the moment.
In 2016, a special documentary called Our Queen at Ninety was released by ITV in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s 90th birthday.
In the program, members of the royal family chimed in with some of their favourite moments with their treasured queen.
The Prince of Wales starred in the documentary and explained: “You have to be careful what you say and who you say it to.”
He also shared a story about his first-ever Diplomatic Corps reception.

Prince William made major blunder during Diplomatic Corps reception debut
Unfortunately, at his Diplomatic Corps reception debut, Prince William made an “awkward” mistake.
“My first diplomatic reception was a little bit awkward,” Wills said in the doc. “I may have mentioned to two particular countries who don’t get along, I got the wrong one…muddled up.”
Although this could have ruffled feathers and made things a little uncomfortable for the queen, she allegedly brushed things off and reacted calmly.
“That was quite embarrassing, but my grandmother was pretty cool about it,” William said. “She laughed about it and thought it was quite funny. Luckily, there wasn’t any [fallout] but it was okay.”

Queen Elizabeth’s sense of humour
Previously, the late queen’s former aide, Samantha Cohen, has revealed her former royal boss “loved it” when mishaps happened.
She told Australian newspaper the Herald Sun: “The Queen had no ego.
“She was so comfortable in herself, yet she loved it when things went wrong. If a cake was not cutting, or a plaque didn’t unveil, because everything was so perfectly organised – it spiced her life up when things went wrong.”
The late queen definitely had a great sense of humour, which likely powered her through her long working days and countless royal duties.
Her sense of humour was on display at various points throughout her reign, including an iconic moment where she starred alongside Prince Harry to promote the Invictus Games in 2016.
The Obamas famously appeared in the promotional footage, where they ‘video called’ Prince Harry.

Michelle Obama told Harry: “Hey, Prince Harry, remember when you told us to bring it in the Invictus Games?”
Barack then stated: “Be careful what you wish for.”
Behind them, someone in uniform mimed a mic drop and exclaimed: “Boom.”
The Queen then looked to Harry and amusedly said: “Oh really, please…”
Prince Harry then mimed his own mic drop and teasingly quipped: “Boom.”
