Meghan’s ‘Huge Shock’ Over Prince Harry’s True Wealth Sparks Marriage Tension, Claims Insider

Experts have often argued that Meghan Markle held a more idealistic view of royal life than reality allowed.

Ever since she married into the Royal Family, Meghan Markle has frequently found herself at the center of public scrutiny. Several of her comments and unrealistic expectations have drawn sharp criticism from palace insiders and royal experts, who argue she held a more idealistic view of royal life than reality allowed. For instance, recent reports highlight a growing disconnect between the Duchess’s initial assumptions about Prince Harry’s financial standing and the reality the couple must navigate today ― a strain that sources claim is beginning to impact their relationship.

Talking about the same on his Naughty But Nice Substack, royal journalist Rob Shuter quoted insiders close to the Sussexes alleging that Markle initially expected Harry’s royal status to come with immense financial freedom, endless resources, and billionaire-level security. One insider revealed, “Meghan genuinely believed Harry was worth hundreds of millions. When she discovered the actual numbers, it was a huge shock. Yes, Harry is wealthy — but not ‘private jets forever without worrying’ wealthy.”

The Duke’s personal wealth is believed to be somewhere between $50 million and $70 million at present. While this is a substantial amount, sources claim it may not be enough to sustain the ultra-luxurious lifestyle the couple leads today. Speaking on the matter, another source stated, “They spend like a billion-dollar brand. But the income doesn’t flow consistently enough to support that level of spending forever.” For instance, private security is one of their heaviest financial burdens, costing an estimated $2 million to $4million annually. On top of that, there are other major expenses like private travel, legal fees, staff salaries, and more.

Given the seriousness of the situation, the Duke is reportedly becoming increasingly concerned about their financial future. The insider noted, “Harry worries about money constantly now. He never imagined financial stress would dominate his life the way it does today.” On the other hand, however, Markle remains focused on expanding her media and lifestyle ventures, pushing forward with podcasts, massive investments, streaming partnerships, and maintaining her personal brand, As Ever. This stark difference in outlook is said to be creating growing tension between the couple

“Harry wants to slow down, protect the money they still have, and live more privately. Meghan still believes the next giant payday is always one deal away,” the source further claimed. Meanwhile, ever since stepping back from official royal duties, the Duke and Duchess no longer get the financial support they once received from the monarchy. They chose to pursue financial independence, as it allowed them to build their own careers and earn income in ways that were not possible while serving as working royals
