Love Island viewers were left fuming after another dumping saw fan favourite Ellie walk out of the series. This Thursday’s (16 July) episode saw six Islanders at risk of being booted out of the Villa, with Maya Jama announcing a double dumping was in order.

Martha, Elicia, Mica, Samraj, Finley and Jordon all saw their fates hanging in the balance at the Fire Pit, as Maya announced the results of a new public vote. Elicia and Jordon were quickly singled out as the Islanders who received the least votes and immediately left the Villa.

But the real twist came when Maya announced that two more Islanders would be dumped – and it was up to the rest of the couples to boot them out. Mica volunteered to leave the show with Samraj, but Ellie was quickly probed on the state of her connection with Finley as couples debated.

It was following this uneasy conversation that the Islanders voted for Finley and Martha to be dumped – and Ellie chose to follow them, unable to carry on without Finley.

Despite Islanders urging her to remain on Love Island, Ellie insisted on leaving. Viewers were livid following the twist, and took to X to share their frustration.

Many agreed that Mica and Samraj should have been eliminated, while others were disappointed to see Ellie leave. However, some fans believed the decision to eliminate Finley was strategic due to his and Ellie’s potential to make it to the final as an item.

Ellie’s exit from Love Island was previously teased by reports, amid fans of the ITV2 dating series growing increasingly concerned for her wellbeing due to her complicated relationship triangle with Elicia and Finley.

While he’d passed the Casa Amor test, Finley’s head was completely turned by Elicia, but he eventually decided to focus on his relationship with Ellie. Now dumped from the Villa, Finley maintains he’s keen to see how their bond will evolve.

“It’s obviously bittersweet because I’ve ended Ellie’s journey early because of my actions. Obviously now it’s just the start of the journey with Ellie on the outside,” he said. Ellie is just as determined to move past their differences.

“There are definitely ways it could have been better, but we live and we learn,” she said of Finley’s connection with Elicia. “I’ve learned a lot about myself there and I’ve got to give him grace on that. It doesn’t mean the grafting boots are off because we’re out now, those boots are still on.”

Love Island continues this Friday (17 July) from 9pm on ITV2.
