Love Island fans were taken on an emotional rollercoaster tonight, with many left unimpressed by a last-minute twist. In a shocking cliffhanger, it was revealed that there would be more than one couple exiting the villa, ahead of tomorrow’s finale.

Tonight’s episode saw this year’s former Islanders making a return, to deliver their verdict on the remaining couples. Each contestant was given the opportunity to decide who doesn’t deserve to be in the final.

Ultimately, it was Samraj and Mica who received the most votes and were dumped from the Island. However, viewers were left confused over the reasoning, claiming the issue of “distance” was “nonsense”.

“Why are they acting like birmingham to london is a flight to australia??” one fan wrote on Twitter/X, with another posting: “mica lives in london????? what has this whole long distance nonsense been about then?????? f*cking stupid.”

“It’s actually BS and annoying they’re literally basing their decision on public opinions,” added a third, while a fourth said: “i think marthas justification for voting samica was the only one i fr understood.”

Unfortunately, despite the public’s confusion, the decision had been made and Samraj and Mica said their goodbyes as they packed up their things. However, while the remaining Islanders celebrated making it to the final, the pair received a shocking text, telling them they had to choose which couple would be dumped alongside them.

The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Samraj and Mica’s decision set to be announced tomorrow. But fans were left irritated by the twist, calling it “unnecessary” and “a joke”.

“This is so stupid !!! So they will take out Lorenzo and Julia. This is so annoying i’m sorry,” said one, while a second wrote: “I actually hate when the Islanders get the decision.”

“Producers are pathetic for that plot twist. Not even a gag just unnecessary,” said another, with a fourth agreeing: “They’ve done this final week so poorly it’s a joke. why are we having drama the day of the final???? i’m so tired.”

A fifth fumed: “This plot twist is absolute bullshit, producers don’t give a f abt the public opinion.”

Love Island airs from 9pm on ITV2.
