Prince Harry’s ‘demand for privilege’ slammed as he blasts ‘I am a working royal’

Prince Harry has rejected claims he is ‘not a working royal’, a claim criticised by Royal Family fans, as Harry insists he remains part of the Royal Family during his Ukraine visit. The Duke told ITV’s Royal Editor, Chris Ship, that he sees himself as continuing to do the work he was “born to do”, saying he values humanitarian trips, the people he meets, and the ability to draw attention to issues that fall out of news cycles.
One critic on X wrote: “No, you’re not. You do NOT represent the Monarch, you do NOT represent the Commonwealth, you do NOT perform official duties.”
They added: “Hasn’t he complained bitterly about Royal life and the expectations he was ‘born into’? But now he’s stomping his foot and crossing his arms, ‘I am SO a working Royal!’”
Another critic added: “Just saying ‘I’m royal’ is a demand for the privilege he had his whole life before he gave it up to move to California six years ago. Now he wants it back, but we don’t DO royalty in America. Except as a courtesy to people like his dad and grandmother. It’s really limited and at our discretion.”
Through Archewell, Harry and Meghan continue philanthropic work focused on mental health, veterans, women’s rights, and humanitarian causes, maintaining that service remains central to their identity despite stepping away from official royal duties.
“No. I will always be part of the Royal Family,” Prince Harry told the reporter. “I am here working, doing the things that I was born to do.”
He said: “I enjoy doing it. I enjoy coming to do these trips and supporting that … the friends that I’ve made, and hopefully, bringing attention to issues that, for one reason or another, drop out of the news because something else has popped up.”

When quitting Royal Family duties in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released the following statement: “After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution.
“We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”
They added: “It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to the Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages.”
