Mystery after family clearing out dead relative’s home find HUMAN REMAINS in freezer believed to belong to family member

A FAMILY clearing out a dead relative’s home made a horrifying discovery when they found human remains stuffed inside a chest freezer.

Police responded to the residence in the 6500 block of Glacier Highway in Juneau, Alaska, at approximately 7:59 p.m. on July 19 after a call about a possible body.

The family had been cleaning out the home following the death of a relative when they made the gruesome discovery, police revealed.

The remains were found inside a chest freezer in a locked outbuilding on the property.

Officers responded to the scene and confirmed the remains were human.

A preliminary identification has since been made, with investigators believing the remains belong to an adult male family member.

“The length of time the remains have been in the freezer is unknown,” police said.

“Investigators have determined that no missing person’s report related to the deceased was ever filed with the Juneau Police Department.”

The person’s next of kin has already been notified, according to police.

However, positive identification is still pending confirmation from the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

“At this stage of the investigation, there is no known threat to the public,” police added.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Juneau Police Department did not immediately respond to request for comment.
