Love Island fans blast “Friend Island” in latest dumping twist

Love Island aired its latest dumping tonight, with a dramatic twist that saw the power being handed over to the existing couples. Fans were left fuming at the “favouritism” shown by the Islanders, as two new bombshells exited the villa.

In tonight’s episode, the Islanders were tasked with deciding which couple they thought were the least compatible, before sharing their opinions with the group. After receiving the most votes, Mica & Chidi and Tommy & Halle were left at risk of being dumped.

In a huge twist, the four vulnerable Islanders were told to decide among themselves whose Love Island journey would be coming to an end – with only two being allowed to stay. But after each couple made their case, they were left in a stalemate situation.

With no one wanting to give up their place, the other Islanders stepped in with another vote, and ultimately saved Mica and Tommy. But while it may have seemed like a democratic solution, Simba pointed out that their reasoning was flawed and stormed off.

Meanwhile, fans were equally annoyed by the situation, saying it was “unfair” that the two newest arrivals, Chidi and Halle, were dumped after only a couple of days. Taking to Twitter/X, they branded the show “Friend Island”, and demanded the public receive control of the voting.

“Can’t believe im agreeing with simba, because this is seriously a favouritism thing,” said one, with another writing: “This was a shambles sending both newbies yard. There’s no way Tommy should’ve survived that. Lowkey this stinks.”

“It’s totally unfair for Halle to leave while Tommy stays. Very f**ked up decision seeing how he is the sole reason their couple got voted to leave. Friend island they’re doing,” said a third, while a fourth pointed out: “Thought the producers were supposed to be changing up the format but here we are again allowing Islanders to vote for their mate and the public having no final say AGAIN.”

A fifth added: “Unfortunately this is part of the game. A lot ppl say not friendship island but you do need to MAKE friends for THESE moment! Mica and Tommy stay cause their friendship (and how long they’ve been in the villa too).”
