King Charles shares brotherly embrace with Prince Edward in rarely-seen moment
Prince Edward is King Charles’ youngest brother, although royal fans haven’t often seen the brothers interacting, but they recently shared a very sweet moment
ing Charles and the Duke of Edinburgh have the sweetest brotherly bond, although royal fans don’t always see them display their closeness.
Back in April, the King was joined by members of his family as they observed memorials dedicated to their late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The royals observed these plans at the British Museum, and before Charles arrived, Edward was with his wife, the Duchess of Edinburgh, alongside the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
When Charles arrived, he exchanged a handshake with the Duke of Gloucester, before sharing cheek kisses with both Duchesses. When it came to his youngest brother, the monarch put his hand on Edward’s shoulder before they also exchanged cheek kisses.
Charles and Edward’s relationship over the years
It hasn’t always been plain sailing for the King and his younger brother, who share a 16-year age gap, over the years. Although the pair were close in their childhood, with pictures showing the young royals often playing together, as Edward transitioned into adulthood, the bond became more fraught.
In 2001, Edward’s former production company allegedly invaded the privacy of Prince William while he was studying, a move which angered Charles. Royal author Robert Jobson claimed that Charles went “ballistic” at his youngest brother over the incident.

Edward and Charles were close growing up
He claimed in his 2006 book, William’s Princess: “He berated his youngest sibling, furiously demanding from the Queen that Edward be made to choose once and for all between his public duties and his television company – itself many believed little more than a vanity project dependent on Edward’s title for what little success it had.”
However, the brothers have put their feud behind them, with Edward supporting his older brother during his coronation, with a sweet, unseen moment being aired in a BBC documentary. In the clip, the Duke of Edinburgh could be seen embracing his brother, before offering some encouraging words of wisdom, telling him: “I know you’ve got it”.
