Karmelo Anthony cries ‘I told him’ as he’s placed in handcuffs in dramatic bodycam video – & murder weapon pic released

DRAMATIC bodycam footage showed the moment Karmelo Anthony sobbing hysterically to a police officer after plunging a knife into the chest of a 17-year-old student-athlete.

Anthony, who is serving a 35-year sentence for the April 2024 murder of high schooler Austin Metcalf, is heard crying to an officer, “He put his hands on me. I told him not to put his hands on me.”

The bodycam footage showed a Frisco police officer escorting Anthony, then 17, out of the Kuykendall Stadium in handcuffs and into the back of a cruiser.

The shocking video is part of a cache of evidence that was presented during Anthony’s high-profile trial and released by Collin County Court on Friday.

Among the newly released photos also showed the murder weapon Anthony used to fatally stab Metcalf on April 2, 2025.

The knife was described as a $13 Walmart camping blade, part of a 6-in-1 Ozark Trail multi-tool sold by the retail giant.

The blade comes equipped with a flashlight and glass breaker.

Metcalf suffered a single 2.5 inches deep stab wound to the left side of his chest, according to an autopsy report.

The trove of documents also showed photos of Metcalf’s gruesome wound and a blood-soaked jacket that belonged to a Liberty High School football coach who used the coat to try to stop the bleeding.

A Texas jury convicted Anthony of first-degree murder on June 9 in a trial that has continued to racially divide the nation.

Anthony, now 19, has since appealed his conviction after his family received more than $635,000 through an online fundraiser his mother launched after the fatal stabbing.

His defense team filed a notice of appeal in a Texas court less than 24 hours after his conviction.

At his sentencing, Metcalf’s grieving family slammed their son’s killer in court and demanded Anthony look them in the eye.

In a rage-filled victim impact statement, Metcalf’s father, Jeff Metcalf, stared down Anthony and blasted him for refusing to face the family whose lives he destroyed.

“You’re going to prison. You can’t even look me in the eyes right now, but you can stab my f****ng son in the heart,” Jeff told Anthony.

Jeff described the “unfiltered rage” he has lived with since his son’s death and told the court he had been “destroyed” by the tragedy.

“People think that grief is sadness but it’s not. IT’S RAGE!!! Pure unfiltered rage,” he shouted.

Addressing Anthony directly, the emotional father added, “You’re free to make choices all you want, but you’re not free from those consequences. You will face those consequences starting today.

“You failed your parents, you failed yourself and you failed society. You don’t belong in this community.”

Austin’s twin brother, Hunter, also pleaded with Anthony to meet his gaze as he delivered a heartbreaking statement about losing his best friend.

“If you could just look me in the eye while I speak, I would really respect that,” Hunter said.

But Anthony kept his head down as Hunter accused him of swallowing evil to take control on the day of the killing.

“You let the devil take over in that moment,” he said.

“Eventually your name will be forgotten, but my brother’s memory will live on.”

Hunter told the court he wanted “everything to be taken” from Anthony after losing the brother he had expected to spend the rest of his life alongside.

“You took a son, a brother, a friend, and my best friend, from this world,” he said.

Austin’s mother, Meghan, said she had effectively received a life sentence of her own following her son’s death.

“You may have just been given a sentence of 35 years behind bars but you can consider yourself lucky because I’ve been sentenced to a lifetime without my son,” she told Anthony.

Since Anthony’s guilty verdict, his parents, Andrew Anthony and Kala Hayes, have said they don’t believe their son received a fair trial.

“What struck out to me, No. 1, was the all-White jury,” Dad Andrew told CBS News.

“They did a number on us. We didn’t get justice. A lot of things that were missed that should have been handled a certain way.”

The parents also alleged that witnesses presented by the prosecution lied on the stand and gave inconsistent statements.

With tears in her eyes, Hayes said her eldest son did not mean to hurt anybody despite bringing a knife on school grounds.

“We’ve all been hurt by this. Everybody, everyone,” Hayes said, adding that her son was simply defending himself.

Jeff Metcalf told the outlet he has forgiven Anthony for his own well-being, adding that he no longer carries “the rage, the hate and that around.””

“That poor boy is fixing to experience a life that I would not wish upon anyone, but he deserves what he gets because we’re all responsible for our actions,” Jeff told CBS News.

“What it boils down to for me is this: Austin will never walk through that door again, and never give me a hug.”
