The gunman who killed three people and wounded several others outside a bar in Austin reportedly made multiple offensive posts on social media.
Austin police identified the shooter as Ndiaga Diagne, 53, who was killed by officers during the attack.
Diagne was wearing a sweatshirt that said “Property of Allah” over a shirt that had the Iranian flag on it during the attack, according to reports from CNN, the Associated Press and CBS News.
The Department of Homeland Security said that Diagne, who was a naturalized citizen, originally came to the U.S. on a tourist visa in 2000 before marrying a citizen.
CBS News and FOX News reported that an X account bearing Diagne’s name featured several hateful posts.
In one post reported by CBS, the account stated that “only someone with mental defects” would believe in Christian theology, specifically the belief in the Holy Trinity.
Another post featured by the outlet was a reply to a woman, in which the account used a derogatory term for Hispanic immigrants and called her a “b—h.”
A separate post contained misogynistic sentiments.
“Women produce babies,” the account posted, per CBS. “What do men produce? SPERM and have built everything in this world.”
Other posts were very critical of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom he called “evil,” according to the outlet.
The shooter also reportedly posted that “THE ISLAMIC REVOLUTION IS ETERNAL,” per CBS.
The attack, which occurred early on the morning of March 1, came a day after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran that killed the country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Austin authorities said two people were dead in the initial aftermath of the shooting, while a third person died after being taken off life support in the hospital.
The victims have been identified as Ryder Harrington, 19, Savitha Shan, 21, and Jorge Pederson, 30.
