A one-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a vehicle while in his own driveway in Florida.
Wilson Matias Jr was struck by a car being on Monday afternoon at his home in West Park, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office said.
The driver involved stayed at the scene with authorities focusing their investigation on a white Chevrolet Suburban.
Relatives told NBC Miami that the boy’s mother, identified as Ericka Cante, typically drives a white Chevrolet Suburban. It remains unclear who was behind the wheel of the vehicle when Wilson died.
They said that Matias Jr was outside of the property when he was hit by the vehicle as it backed up.
One harrowing image captured at the scene by the outlet show a pair of blue baby sized Crocs laying on the driveway after the incident.
Deputies and fire teams arrived at the scene to find Matias Jr suffering from serious injuries, he was subsequently rushed to hospital but did not survive.

A neighbor told the outlet: ‘I’ve never seen them kids outside without a parent. They just love they kids. They’re just a family that is really, really family oriented.’
A GoFundMe has since been set up by a relative of the family to help with funeral costs.
A post to the page said: ‘My aunt and her husband, Ericka Cante and Wilson Mathias, unexpectedly lost their beloved little angel at just 2 years old, and our hearts are completely broken.
‘No family is ever truly prepared to face such a profound loss, and in these incredibly difficult times, we are trying to stay united as we navigate this immense grief.
‘Thank you for being with my family, my aunt, and her husband during this difficult time. Our beautiful boy will always be remembered with love; he will live forever in our hearts.’
Traffic homicide unit investigators are still investigating the incident. The Daily Mail has approached the sheriff’s office for further comment.
