Hundreds of people are missing after devastating flash floods across the border of Nepal and China.
The storeys-tall torrent of water swept away buildings, bridges and roads in several villages across the two countries on Wednesday.
Local authorities said 34 Australians are among the hundreds of foreigners missing.

‘We never expected that such things would happen’
The horror unfolding in Nepal started hitting Mani Panerus’ family chat in Perth yesterday afternoon.
Videos were being sent by his brother just metres from the disaster.
“We never expected that such things would happen … in the history there is no record,” he said.
“We lost schools, everything.”
From his home in Belmont, Panerus was left with a sense of desperation by what he was seeing.
His family and friends are now missing in the disaster zone.
Panerus’ brother lives near the valley with videos he recorded showing crowds of locals gathering while local streets were buried under rubble.
Perth’s Nepalese population is small – around 5000 – but it is tight and today they were planning to help however they can.
“Very painful for everyone and even to hear this news its painful so if we can help, please help,” one local said.
Melbourne community gathers for special prayer service
Members of Melbourne’s Nepalese community are gathered at a temple in Digger’s Rest where they’re holding a special prayer service for the victims and those still missing.
Suspected cause of Nepal floods
Scientists say a landslide of glacial ice and rock in the mountains is what sparked the floods when blocked waterways eventually burst.
This caused the Himalayan tsunami, leaving so many with no chance.

Umesh and Krishna Sharma are among the Australians who set off with a tour group in Nepal.
Their son Chitrak is waiting nervously to hear from them.
The Sharmas are among 15 Australians on a pilgrimage in Nepal.

Shocking footage shows the moments race a surge of flood water.
Holding helmets, they can be seen running for their lives as the cascading tsunami barrells towards them.
Victorian man missing in Nepal identified
The first Victorian reported missing after the flood is 61-year-old father Kumar Sampath.
He lives in Melbourne’s east and was on a pilgrimage to Tibet’s Mount Kailash.
Travel agents making desperate calls
Melbourne travel agents have been making desperate calls to try and locate Australians in Nepal.
“Contacting through the WhatsApp because they’re carrying out, I guess, Australian number and then also sending them the email,” travel agent Bhim Neupane said.
Friends nervously wait for news
For Rajat Ghimirey, he has been unable to contact his best mate who was right in the middle of the disaster.
“A lot of other engineers who were his mates, they have been missing,” Ghimirey, who lives in Victoria, said.
“We have been getting reports of that as well. So yeah, that was pretty bad.”

Nepal Police say that 270 bodies have been found after the torrential flood swept through the country’s border areas, Reuters has reported.
Victorian Nepalese community’s devastation after flood
For Nepalese relatives in Australia, the painful wait for information is only just beginning.
Tulsi Gompo is a Nepalese Melbourne University student who’s lost everything he owned.
“My home, I cannot see my home now because it’s completely covered with mud,” he said.
Gompo is thankful his parents managed to scramble to higher ground, but he estimates 50 relatives and friends are gone.
“Some of them trapped, basically women, like old person or children, they cannot escape,” he said.
