Colombian singer-songwriter Yeison Jiménez died alongside multiple members of his team in a fatal plane crash Jan. 10.
The music community is mourning one of their own.
Yeison Jiménez, a Colombian singer-songwriter of música popular—a genre that blends traditional Mexican ranchera music with Colombian roots—has died after a plane crash Jan. 10. He was 34.
According to a statement from the Special Administrative Unit of Civil Aeronautics (SAUCA) on X, the aircraft registered as N325FA crashed “in the area between Paipa and Duitama,” in Colombia, killing all six people on board the flight that was headed towards Medellín.
The “Aventurero” hitmaker’s death—as well as several members of his team—was confirmed by a rep on social media.
“With heavy hearts and a pain impossible to describe, the organization and team of Yeison Jiménez deeply regret to inform you of his passing,” the statement posted to Yeison’s Instagram, translated from Spanish, read. “Today we say goodbye not only to an artist; we say goodbye to a son, a brother, a friend, a human being full of dreams and courage, who transformed his story into hope for thousands of people.”
The statement continued, “Yeison embodied perseverance, discipline, and love for his community. His voice and his example were born from hard work, and that is why they will forever mark the lives of those who followed and loved him.”
Yeison is survived by his wife Sonia Restrepo and their three kids.

The social media post also confirmed the deaths of Yeison’s team members who were onboard when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff, including Jefferson Osorio, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, Óscar Marín, and Weisman Mora, as well as Captain Fernando Torres.
The rep added, “We send our deepest condolences, our absolute solidarity, and our prayers to their families during this very difficult time.”
The crash remains under investigation, per TMZ.
The “Hasta La Madre” singer was one of Colombia’s most successful music artists, being the first Colombian artist to sell out Bogotá’s Movistar Arena three times, performing for more than 40,000 fans total, according to Billboard.
“Yeison leaves us physically, but his legacy remains: in his songs, in his words, in his struggles, in his refusal to give up, and in the indelible mark he leaves on Colombian regional music and in the hearts of his people,” the statement read. “His light will continue to shine every time someone sings one of his songs and remembers that it is possible to move forward.”
